Counterterrorism Contacts in the United States

In the United States, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has the lead in counterterrorism.  All reports or questions related to terrorism should start with a call to the closest FBI Field Office.

Each Field Office has a Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).  There are actually about 103 JTTFs, so there are a number outside of FBI FOs as well. Your closest FBI FO will put you on the right track.

There are 56 Field Offices in the United States and Puerto Rico.

To find the Field Office closest to you, go to:

www.fbi.gov/contact/fo/fo.htm

If you want to submit a tip to the FBI online tips and public leads form, you can find it here:

Another excellent FBI initiative is called InfraGard.  It is described as a 'collaboration for infrastructure protection.  I recommend that you contact the closest InfraGard chapter and inquire about membership.  Their home page can be found at:

www.infragard.net

Another resource is the Information Sharing and Analysis Centers Council.  From their website:

"The mission of the Information Sharing and Analysis Centers Council (ISAC Council) is to advance the physical and cyber security of the critical infrastructures of North America by establishing and maintaining a framework for valuable interaction between and among the ISACs and with government."

There are thirteen different Information Sharing and  Analysis Centers (ISACs).  Their home page can be found at:

www.isaccouncil.org

If you are overseas, go to the nearest US Embassy and ask to speak to the Legal Attache.
